When Saint Paul College celebrated its 100th year, they asked us to design a new look for the Friends of Saint Paul College. This supporting foundation, technically separate from the college, needed a logo that clearly illuminated the connection to the school while establishing its position in the community it serves. The foundation needed an image that conveyed solidity, history and a look to the future. Using color, typography and a fine-tuned attention to detail, we avoided the temptation to use “visual tricks” to enhance the design. In an age of fiery, special effects, it takes a restrained hand to keep a design from getting burned by technology.
Remember, a good design doesn’t need smoke and mirrors in order for it to shine.
